The Miraculaous Journey of Edward Tulane doll

google link

My best friend since the 5th grade, lent me one of her most cherished children's books,("The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane") and I must say it moved me in more ways than I thought possible. It is the sweetest story about a favorite, spoiled toy rabbit learning to love, and to appreciate the ones who love him. Do yourself a favor and find this book to read and pass along. I think children would really benefit from it too.
Of course I just had to bring him to life ,...may I introduce, Mr. Edward Tulane !

click here if you'd like to visit one similar to him on ebay!

SOLD!!! If you'd like to be notified when another Edward becomes available please email me at: Papernan@msn.com

Winter Whites in Wonderland!!!

I usually don't put up my Christmas tree til just
before the big day. But I do like to bring out my other decorations a bit earlier. So
with that in mind I created a tree topper that can also be
displayed on her own stand. She is quite the versatile gal, hee hee!

She can be seen here
(I apologize for the Charlie Brown Xmas Tree. I had to make do for her photo shoot!)

Think SMALL

There is just something so very charming about the old lithograph/printed dollies and
stuffed animals... These were once printed onto fabric panels in the early 1900's, to be cut out, sewn and stuffed at home. I can just imagine a little girl creating her very own doll! I cannot think of anything more fun than that!!! I've created my own 7 inch version with her pug companion. My spoiled Lucy (an old composition dolly) was pleading for a dolly of her own to hold, so I obliged!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Now your Dolly can adopt one of these printed dollies too! I made an extra, click here!

Eve's black sister

I wanted to create a sister for Eve,(see 2 posts prior to see a pic of her) so while browsing
through my folder of "faces" (faces I've compiled, find interesting and hope to draw or paint someday), I was inspired by this particular face and she happened to be black. Eve is thrilled to have a black sister!
Her hair is a touch unruly but I'm kinda liking it that way so it may just stay as is.
We need a name now... any ideas???
Thanks for stopping by!

~ Good-byes ~

This 18" Izannah is a special order I just finished up and saying my "good-byes" to.
I just loved the vintage dotted swiss fabric used in the dress. If you haven't already, you must check out the pictures of authentic Izannah Walker dolls taken from the Stong Museum.
Dixie took these and has generously shared them here ----- but be warned... you too
shall fall under their spell, lol.

And I've decided to put this little one up for adoption on Ebay... click here to see if you'd like..

Hold on to your hats!

Finally finished up a couple of lasses and wanted to share.

Remember the doll that couldn't decide on hair or not? Well she decided she
wanted hair, but in a lighter shade. She got her wish, and a lovely straw hat to top it off.
I've named her "Eve".
She is quite pleased with herself, can't you tell by that expression?
She will be listed this evening on Ebay.

And ya know I just had to make a couple more Itty Izannah Walker style dollies... These will be going up for adoption on my "Picture Trail" on Aug. 5 Click HERE if interested in purchasing one

I sure hope everyone is having as much fun in the sun this summer as I am!!
Thanks to a generous sister and Brother-in-Law who
own a condo at Lake Michingan. I am so blessed!

Her Highness......

She is spoken for and has been named Queen Gertude. We are packing her tiaras and then headed for New York, yeah! She is quite pleased with both her new name and home and has promised to write.

Finally, as a momento, she has allowed me to take a photo of her...(goodness, you'd think
I was a paparazzo or something!)

Have a Super Sunday!

Stepping out of the box, NOT!!! ;-)

A doll group I belong to, CWT (Coffee with Tea),
is having another doll challenge.
To create an itty Izzy (Izannah Walker style) of less than 8".
We do these as a way of challenging ourselves to
think outside of our boxes. I just can't
seem to free myself from mine tho, and either
can this poor wee Izzy from hers!
Here she is, all 3.5 inches of her!
They will be on ebay this evening so make sure to
check all the other tiny Izzys from this
very talented group of ladies.

Maiden ~Oil Painted Doll

My sewing machine is on the fritz!
I cleaned, and oiled it the other day and now
it won't work properly.
Thats what I get for being nice to it!!

Well I made the best of it, and worked on
my dolls hair. First I made her a wig (hand-sewn
and not by choice, lol)
She seems to me a young maiden with this do.

I also tried my hand at painting her hair. I
can't seem to get the right... "highlighting"?
Like I said, I'm a novice at this so I might, and really should
buy a book on oil painting-
A much more sophitsticated look tho don't you think?
It just amazes me what a difference hair styles can
make to the actual doll itself! Hmmm. Which do you
prefer?

The Bald and the beautiful......

Just started dabbling in oils for the first time ever! I think I like it, but it takes some getting use to that is for sure! The dry time is much longer for one thing, but thanks to some very smart gals, I am now clued in on how to change that for next time. Thanks sweeties,( you know who you are)

Now I just need to decide what type hair to do... Should it be simply painted on ? Or maybe adding some dimension with clay? Or even maybe some mohair? I 'd love your opinion if you wouldn't mind?
Thanks for stopping by!

Princess Anne

Well guess who couldn't tolerate "Little Miss Red Riding Hood" getting all the attention this week!?

Yep, her Royal Pain, oops, I meant Royal Majesty.

She was putting up such a fuss, I decided to list her early.

If you happen to bump into her on ebay, please tell her how pretty she is....

Here is my offering.... and Yes, this is a different doll than I had planned on using, but some things are just out of my control. This little gal is much more befitting the part, so she says anyway.

Double Trouble and then SOME!

No, you are not seeing double. It is just that I have done it again... I couldn't stop at just one you see, she needed a sister. So I obliged. I'm a softy when it comes to these Queens. They can be quite persuasive.

And while I was at it, this shy little girl seemed to appear out of almost no where and ever soooooo quietly. I do believe she desires to be a "Little Red Riding Hood" but I am not quite sure she could handle going off into the woods alone and coming upon a Big Bad Wolf, hmmmm.

The gals in the wonderful group, CWT are having a Little Red challenge soon, and I hope to have one done for that. More about that later!

These wonderful glass eyes came in the mail recently,

Sense & Sensibility

~ SOLD ~ A Big "Thankyou" to Sharon from Virginia

Straight out of a Jane Austin novel...
Well, not quite. As this little lady is still drying from a sixth coat of sealer, lol.
Oops, I now see after snapping this photo that she could really benefit from some under garments too! She is quite embarrassed (see her blushing?)
I will get those made for her right away!
I'd like to have her on Ebay by Sunday Evening. That's the plan anyway, unless someone must have her before than.
Thanks for dropping by!
